22-Year-Old Learns to Live Without Legs After Bahamas Boat Explosion

The 22-year-old ballet dancer and soccer player who lost her legs in a Bahamas boat explosion is discussing her recovery. Stefanie Schaffer, from Rutland, Vermont, was in the Bahamas with her sister, mom, and stepfather in June. They were on a boat tour to go snorkeling with pigs when the boat exploded. “I just remember the feeling of panic,” she told WVNY. Tourists from another boat bravely waded into the shallow water to help the 10 Americans on board. One died in the blast.
